A significant amount of day games cuts tonight's main slate down to just 7-games but we do have a good number of interesting spots to choose from.  As of this writing, only the Dodgers have a O/U above 5 (6.67) with the remaining teams and games showing low totals.  That could lead to a good night for pitching but as always, there will be spots to pick offenses.

Weather - The only game showing weather or rain concerns tonight is the Colorado game - but even that is weak at best.  It should be a relatively clear night with temperatures in the 80s.

Keep in mind, these articles and any associated videos are published early, so that you have a chance to review and set lineups.  Actual lineups likely are not out yet, so please please make sure you check lineups before lock.  Also, please ensure you check weather and potential delays.

PITCHERS

  • Shohei Ohtani - $9,100 - vs. CWS - 7.5 O/U

    • I just don't understand why Ohtani's salary continues to sit in the low 9k range, almost forcing you to play him each start. He will be highly owned tonight, most likely the most highly owned pitcher in the last week or so given the slate's overall size and lack of pitching options. He has pitched back to back 26+ FP games and all things considered, is having yet another excellent season as a pitcher. The White Sox are projected to score only 3.22 runs and Ohtani has the ability to rack up the strikeouts, given he is projected 7.5 tonight, the highest of all pitchers by a good margin. The White Sox are ranked 23rd in wRC+, 26th in wOBA and 28th in ISO against right handed pitching on the season. But overall, there are very few options outside of Ohtani tonight should you be willing to eat the chalk.

BATTERS

  • Jose Ramirez - $5,100 - vs. MIN - vs. Bundy (R - MIN)

    • I do not think Dylan Bundy is a good pitcher and I'm pretty certain the stats back that statement up. He has a career 4.49 xFIP and has always allowed the long ball (1.61 HR/9). This season, when facing a left hander (assuming Jose chooses to bat left), the numbers are even worse, where he allows 1.78 HR/9 and is only striking out 13.8% of batters. But in reality, it doesn't matter, this is Jose Ramirez, one of the games best hitters. For 2022, against right handed pitching, Ramirez is ranked 3rd overall in MLB with an outstanding 197 wRC+ and .445 wOBA. He also possesses tons of power, ranking 4th in ISO. He has hit safely in 16 of 20 games in June with 5 of those games including multiple hits. It's always safe to play Ramirez in DFS but tonight it becomes a great play.

STACKS

  • Atlanta Braves - 4.72 Earned Runs - @ Suarez (L - PHI)

    • We will have to monitor how the lineups come out for tonight, but the Braves standard lineup is in a great matchup tonight, on the road, against Suarez. First, Suarez has up and down all season. Earlier this season, in Atlanta, the Braves put up 5 earned runs in just over 4 innings against the Southpaw. Although he has fared better since then, the metrics say he is a low strikeout guy that gives up a fair amount of long balls. He also struggles against right handed bats, sporting a 4.45 xFIP, .355 wOBA and 1.15 HR/9. Atlanta on the otherhand will fill out their lineup tonight with 7/9 right handed bats, including some guys like d'Arnaud and Ozuna who have a long successful history against left handed pitching. The Braves are ranked 2nd in wRC+, 3rd in wOBA and 1st in ISO against left handed pitching. Acuna being out hurts that for sure, but this lineup still has tremendous power when facing left handers.
