MLB DFS MAINSLATE BREAKDOWN TUESDAY 6/28/2022

Huge 15-game slate is on schedule for tonight with a great combination of high scoring games and great pitching options.  These larger slates leave a lot of opportunity, so let's dig in and find out which players stand out for this slate.

Weather - The only game showing weather or rain concerns tonight is the Colorado game - so make sure to keep up to date on any developments there.

Keep in mind, these articles and any associated videos are published early, so that you have a chance to review and set lineups.  Actual lineups likely are not out yet, so please please make sure you check lineups before lock.  Also, please ensure you check weather and potential delays.

PITCHERS

  • Carlos Rodon - $10,400 - vs. DET - 7 O/U

    • Rodon is easily my favorite pitcher on tonight's slate and right now stands as the highest projected point scoring pitcher according to Daily Fantasy Nerd. His salary is expensive (2nd highest) but for good reason. First, he has pitched really well this season and is coming off 3 straight 30+ fantasy point performances. Second, he is facing the Tigers, a team we have taken nearly any and every pitcher against. Against left handed pitching, the Tigers offense is ranked 21st in wRC+, 22nd in wOBA and 29th in ISO. The Tigers are projected to score the least amount of runs tonight, with a Vegas projection of 2.93. Rodon also has the slate highest O/U strikeout total at 7.5. It's a great picher, on a great streak, against a weak offense and pitching at home in a pitcher friendly park. He might be highly owned but Rodon is an easy choice tonight.

BATTERS

  • Paul Goldschmidt - $6,000 - vs. MIA - vs. Garrett (L - MIA)

    • For a non-Coors bat, Goldschmidt stands out amongst the rest tonight. His price tag is elevated a bit but he has been an absolute monster since May. But even more importantly, Goldschmidt has been nothing short as the best bat in baseball when facing a Southpaw pitcher. He is ranked #1 in 2022 against left handed pitching in wRC+ (278), wBOA (.572) and ranked 8th in ISO (.392). Those numbers are insane and lucky for us, he is up against a lefty tonight. The Marlins pitcher, Garrett has very little MLB experience and is making just his 5th start of the season. He is pretty below average generally speaking but does have some pretty bad numbers when facing right handed bats (4.74 xFIP). It is the perfect combination to tonight for Goldschmidt, so sign me up.
  • Michael Chavis - $2,100 - @ WAS - @ Fedde - (R - WAS)

    • Value is always tough this early in the day without published lineups, but I am looking at Michael Chavis agian for the Pirates. His salary is the bare minimum and he should be hitting in the middle of the Pirates lineup. I get it, the Pirates offense is pretty awful, but to get a guy this cheap in hitting in the middle of a lineup is pretty hard to come by, regardless of who or how good the team is. He also has a split advantage tonight facing a left hander and Corbin for the Nationals has been very hit or miss this season. So the spot isn't that bad and to save on some salary / find value, Chavis stands out to me.

STACKS

  • St. Louis Cardinals - 4.85 Earned Runs - vs. Garrett (L - MIA)

    • My admiration for Goldschmidt also extends to the rest of the Cardinals lineup, mainly because they are loaded with powerful right handed bats and up against a pretty weak left handed pitcher. Players like Arenado are also career left handed smashing players, so I have high hope they can put up some serious runs tonight at home. The lineup is out as of this writing and it looks like 8 of 9 players in the lineup with bat from the right side of the plate, making this a really difficult matchup for Garrett. Over the last 14 days, the Cardinals lineup is ranked top 5 in wRC+, wOBA and ISO against left handers. So this matchup should be one to take advantage of and stack should you need to find something outside of Coors.
  • LA Dodgers

  • Toronto Blue Jays
